Welcome of the Dean

It is an honor to welcome you to our newly established Sana'a Institute of Dental Technology ,which is one of several in the  University of Sana'a in Yemen.

 

Mission:
Organizing efficient technical graduates with distinguished levels of knowledge and technological innovation to achieve the international standards of quality assurance in accordance with the labor market needs in public and private sectors.

 

Vision:
Be a leading college in dental technology training, and working for the development in Yemen.

 

Aims :
1- Establishing dental technology education in Sana`a and the around region.

2- Keeping up with the latest achievements and developments in the fields of science and technology.

3- Preparing professionals of dental technology in various fields to fulfill market needs and help achieve scientific, economic and social development goals.

5- Improving work and educational  in the field of dentistry.

6- Contributing the cultural and academic relations with national and international institutions.

7- Seeking for future to postgraduate education in various fields of dental technology.

General Objectives

1.     Establishing the nessery branch of dental technology practice.

2.     Encourage scientific knowledges and research in this field of study.

3.     To improve the technical skills and to provide continuous education in the general field of dentistry in Yemen.

4.     Take part with government efforts in the health education tasks. 

5.      Provides dental health care of high quality to the patients attending the clinics of the college of dentistry by contributing the technical practices of the institute with clinical treatments.

6.     Encourage exchanging knowledge and experience with other dental schools. 

 

General Education Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of general education requirements students should be able to:

• Integrate theoretical knowledge with evidence-based view to make optimal real decisions.

 

Program Details

The Four-years course of study in the institute are combined lectures, labs and practical experience . The curriculum prepare graduates to recognize patient problems through cooperation and contributing with treatment plans of the dentist practice, assess individual needs, design treatment plans, construct prosthodontic, maxillofacial prosthetic, conservative  and orthodontics , select appropriate materials and deal with the expected difficulties of patients. During their period of study students in this institute  participate in many exciting labrotories practices in relationships with the clinical practices of students of the level  4 and level 5 of the Faculty of dentistry .


Regulations of Registration and Examination

I- The academic year is divided into two semesters, each semester is 15 teaching weeks, including the examination periods of 2 weeks for first semester and 2 weeks for the 2nd semester.

2- The students must register in courses according to the  approved distribution of courses over the four years of study.

3- The student should pay attention to the following regulations when registering in the courses:

A. He or She must complete the English course and the pre dental sciences courses prior to registering any dental — medical courses.

B. He/ She must register in all courses offered for any year. (The registration should be for the year, rather than for courses in the year).

4- Registration

The student must register in all courses of the semester at the beginning of the academic year in respect to the calendar of Sana`a university. No exception will be allowed for adding or dropping of a course

Note: The student is able to drop all the courses of the year during the first two weeks after registration  

5-Final grades shall include the following:

a. For theoretical courses, at least two written examinations including final exam, at the end of the course                                                                                                    

b. For practical course routine evaluation, final examination and satisfactory completion of all clinical requirements                              

(oral exam may be included)                                                                        

6- Failing students.

a. Un passed students in the first year but in not more than four courses given supplementary privileges. Failure of more than four courses including three Basic Science courses requires repeating the first year.        b. Un passed student in year 2,3 and 4  will be treated as follows:

1)    A student who fails in 3 courses have supplementary examination to the beginning of the next academic year.

2)    A student failing in theoroticall or practical courses will need corrective teaching  before  examination.

3)    A student who fails  in more than 3 courses  is  not  entitled to supplemental examinations, Such  student  must  repeat  that entire  course. The student will not be able to register in any higher level course.

4)    A  student  who  are  given  the  supplementary examination privilege  and  have failed  will  be  treated  as  follows:

"A student  who  has failed again  any course must  stay at the level and  repeat  all courses."
